Evaluation & Analysis Specialist

Are you an evaluation geek? A data nerd? Someone who loves a well-organized spreadsheet and the challenge of making sense of complex evidence?

Can you design a high-quality evaluation—and are you just as excited to roll up your sleeves and do the quantitative and qualitative analysis?

We’re looking for an Evaluation & Analysis Specialist to join our thriving collective. You’ll bring rigor, curiosity, and a love of analysis to our work with foundations and other social change organizations, helping us generate evidence that answers meaningful questions.

At Convive, we bring different strengths together. You don’t need to be an expert learning facilitator to thrive here. You’ll work alongside colleagues who specialize in sensemaking, facilitation, and organizational change, combining your analytical expertise with their ability to help people use evidence.

Responsibilities:

Design thoughtful, rigorous evaluations. Translate clients’ priorities into clear evaluation questions, appropriate methods, sampling approaches, and realistic plans. Make sound choices about what an evaluation can credibly tell us within the available time and resources.

Develop tools that generate useful evidence. Create surveys, interview guides, rubrics, and other data collection tools that align with the evaluation questions and reflect the perspectives of the people involved.

Get hands-on with quantitative analysis. Clean, organize, and analyze datasets; explore patterns and differences; and use statistical methods appropriate to the questions and data. You enjoy doing the analysis yourself, not just overseeing it.

Bring depth to qualitative analysis. Develop coding frameworks, analyze interviews and open-ended responses, and identify themes, tensions, and exceptions without losing the context or nuance of what people share.

Bring different sources of evidence together. Integrate quantitative and qualitative findings, investigate where they converge or diverge, and distinguish well-supported conclusions from questions that need further exploration.

Make findings clear and compelling. Create accessible charts, visualizations, and written summaries that help people understand what the evidence says, why it matters, and where uncertainty remains.

Partner with colleagues to support learning and action. Help our learning partners and facilitators understand the findings, prepare evidence for sensemaking conversations, and explore new questions that emerge from those discussions.

Keep quality and care at the center. Document methods, check your work, protect confidential information, and consider whose perspectives are represented—or missing—in the evidence.

This role is the right fit for you if you are:

  • Equally committed to methodological rigor and practical usefulness.

  • Comfortable working with both numbers and narratives—and curious about what each can reveal.

  • A clear communicator who can explain analytical choices and findings without relying on jargon.

  • An independent, proactive colleague who takes ownership of your work and flags questions or challenges early.

  • Energized by collaborating with people whose strengths complement your own.

  • Interested in strengthening your ability to connect evidence to learning and change, even if facilitation isn’t currently your strongest skill.

  • Looking to contribute your expertise to a warm, ambitious collective that values trust, growth, and excellent work.

This role is not the right fit for you if you are:

  • More interested in overseeing evaluation work than doing the detailed design and analysis yourself.

  • Committed to one method regardless of the question, context, or available resources.

  • Comfortable producing polished findings without checking the quality of the underlying evidence.

  • Looking for a highly prescribed role with frequent oversight and fixed instructions.

  • Uninterested in feedback, collaboration, or adapting your work as new questions emerge.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering evaluations for foundations, nonprofits, or other social change organizations.

  • Strong quantitative analysis skills, including data cleaning, descriptive statistics, and appropriate use of inferential methods.

  • Strong qualitative analysis skills, including systematic coding, thematic analysis, and synthesis.

  • Experience integrating quantitative and qualitative evidence in mixed-methods evaluations.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, plus experience with statistical software such as R, Stata, SPSS, or Python.

  • Proficiency in qualitative analysis tools such as NVivo, MAXQDA, or Dedoose, or a well-developed alternative workflow.

  • Strong data visualization skills, including choosing appropriate formats and presenting findings accurately and accessibly.

  • Excellent analytical writing, attention to detail, and ability to manage deadlines across projects.

  • A thoughtful approach to equity, research ethics, confidentiality, and the limits of evidence.

We welcome applicants with different educational and professional paths. We’re most interested in the quality of your work, your judgment, and how you collaborate.
